Seth takes a closer look at President Trump's first week in office, and his false claims about nonexistent voter fraud and concerns about his behavior. Then, Seth interviews award-winning journalist Katie Couric about press freedom under Donald Trump, as well as her new documentary, "Gender Revolution." We also go backstage with Katie to hear some more about her documentary. Finally, Seth talks to author Matt Taibbi about his new book "Insane Clown President: Dispatches from the 2016 Circus." He explains why the election of Donald Trump is "terrible and awful and hilarious all at the same time." Matt also tells Late Night producer Henry about why coming to 30 Rock is a homecoming of sorts for him. On this special edition of the Late Night with Seth Meyers Podcast, Seth and Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett and Tommy Vietor, former Obama aides and current hosts of the hit podcast Pod Save America, share an extended conversation ahead of Donald Trump’s inauguration. They reflect on their respective experiences at the 2011 White House Correspondents Dinner, where Seth was the featured comedian, and ruminate on how the jokes leveled at Trump that night may or may not have influenced his decision to run for president. Also discussed are the obligations of political comedy in the Trump era, ways of reaching diverse audiences and the challenges of rebuilding political coalitions when many feel hopeless. This episode was recorded in the Late Night offices at 30 Rock on Thursday, January 19, 2017.
